Final Fantasy Set Review - Bonus Action ep. 12

The best selling Magic the Gathering set of all time is out and in (some) peoples hands. It's expensive, its beautifully designed, and frankly... its worthy of being the best selling in some ways.

 @TypicalGeminiMTG  and I break down the limited environment, the commander decks, and talk about some of our favorite singles from the set!

Final Fantasy Secret Lair is a Beautiful Failure

The Best Selling Magic the Gathering set of ALL TIME gets not one, not two, but three Secret Lair drops with gorgeous art. Surely Wizards of the Coast won't manage to screw this one up... right?

Sadly we were wrong. Between 5 hour lines, products selling out within the first hour, lines pausing, scalpers galore, and no transparency; this will certainly go down as one of the worst run drops of all time for MTG. We give you some tips to avoid Secret Lair line clogging, dive into Hasbro layoffs, give a positive update on the TCG Player union fight with ebay, and hypothesize when we will get another print run of Final Fantasy play boosters.

Also we give a brief rant about how Marvel screwed up after Endgame and dropped the ball HARD with Thor Love and Thunder.... for some reason.

220 TCG Player Employees Laid off by Ebay

Ladies and Gentlemen it is not a fun one today. Ebay, who bought TCG Player in 2022, is laying off all of the employees in their Syracuse, New York warehouse, and moving the entire operation to Kentucky. Seemingly in an attempt to stop the Unionization efforts from the Syracuse TCG Player Employees!  @TypicalGeminiMTG  and I discuss the ramifications of this and if there is anything we can do as consumers.

We also go over the rules changes to Sagas that will begin with the release of the Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering Set, The Secret Lair X National Association of Latino Arts and Culture: Nuestra Magia, and dating sims that let you... have relations... with household objects and the very concept of Existential Dread?!?!

Between the Through the Ages bonus sheet being available in 1/3 of all play boosters and in EVERY collector booster, The best value in secret lair drops we've seen in what feels like years, AND the general card quality for the set; Final Fantasy is shaping up to be the most pushed set in a long time! Did they make MTG Arena BETTER?!

Yet again we find ourselves hit by the sadness that is make set debut's and showcases happening after we post to Patreon but before the free feeds... Alas, we trudge on through a major Magic the Gathering Arena update that provides many quality of life improvements to the card economy when collecting cards for new sets, and utilizing new card styles and printings!

The news kept coming in hot and heavy these last two weeks. The Q1 earnings call isn't just boring statistics, we have confirmation that Final Fantasy Universes Beyond is Magic's besting selling set of all time! Over one month before its release!

We also dive into Commander's recent Unbannings and updates to the Commander Bracket Beta system including 18 additions to the Game Changers List.

Deadpool LEAKS Final Fantasy Magic Cards!

In Classic Wizards of the Coast fashion, some Final Fantasy Starter Kits found their way into the hads of Brazilian consumers... two months before the street date!!!  

@TypicalGeminiMTG  and I discuss how WotC would let this happen AGAIN, and how they handled this situation, compared to when we had the Pinkertons sent to a YouTuber's house!

D&D Virtual Table Top on Ice - Dual's & Mana Dork's Podcast ep. 89

Wizards of the Coast has been developing a 3D virtual table top game for Dungeons & Dragons for years and after the Beta release in February... 90% of the Project Sigil development team has been laid off and the product is seemingly dead in the water.

Magic Sales are DOWN in 2024! - Dual's & Mana Dorks ep. 88

We have Hasbro's financial report for Q4 2024 and the full fiscal year of 2024 and in a shock to nobody, Wizards of the Coast is the primary revenue driving entity at Hasbro, but interestingly, sales of Magic product are down compared to 2023!

Additionally, Spongebob has some bad Secret Lairs, Commandfest's have been dated, and Sam is going away! (for now)
